Hosted Desktop
Scenario
Whether or not you have as strict of a deadline as April 15 for tax season, you may be able to relate to figuring out a viable alternative when something has gone wrong with your internet connection. Here’s an example of how a scenario can play out if you have a hosted desktop service, versus not having one, when something like this happens:
Failure:
• An Accounting Firm has been resisting moving to the Cloud
• 7 PM on April 15th an accountant is in the office busily sending his customer’s tax data to the IRS
• The Internet connection goes down!
• He calls his carrier – there is a problem with the line and they will have to dispatch a technician – on the 17th
• This data needs to be in by midnight
• He runs to Verizon to buy a Wi-Fi hot spot so that he can finish his upload
• He eventually gets the hot spot configured to work with his network, and resumes his upload
The Alternative:
• An Accounting Firm has transitioned to using Hosted Desktop.
• 7 PM on April 15th an accountant is in the office busily sending his customer’s tax data to the IRS
• The Internet connection goes down!
• He calls his carrier – there is a problem with the line and they will have to dispatch a technician – on the 17th
• This data needs to be in by midnight
• He goes home, kisses his wife, logs into his remote desktop – checks and sees that the upload is still running
• He sits down to dinner with his family
